House of the Seven Gables in Salem, Mass.
The House of the Seven Gables is one of the oldest houses in the United States, the subject of a famous book by Nathaniel Hawthorne and a well-known tourist attraction.
Installed in 1976, “The Boy with The Thorn” statue in the hotel's courtyard is by sculptor Bernard Zuckermann, a replica of the original housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. The sculpture is considered one of Country Club Plaza's crown jewels.
