A view of Atlanta's bustling downtown is just one great amenity that many of the city's luxury condos and apartments offer.

Atlanta is blessed with a large inventory of rental properties and a great number of high-quality complexes that are really nice places to live. Finding true luxury apartments, those elite properties at the top of the pyramid, can be more challenging (and a lot more costly), but we've found a few properties that fit the bill.

Many of the most luxurious properties in Atlanta are actually condominiums. Occasionally, those units can be rented from the owners. Check out our article on Atlanta Condos for Rent for some ideas there.

What amenities should you expect from a luxury apartment rental? Most of them are high-rise buildings with five-star views. The very best buildings feature 24-hour concierge service. You should expect a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool, which may be heated for year-round use. The buildings come with shared club rooms designed to host large parties, often with restaurant-quality kitchens and adjacent theater rooms to host movie nights for your guests. Outdoor grill areas are to be expected, as are business centers with conference rooms for meetings. Wi-fi in common areas is a given. Units usually feature high-end appliances, high ceilings and plenty of square footage.

The Atlantic at Atlantic Station fits the luxury apartment bill. The 46-story Art Deco-inspired building offers spectacular views (there are no nearby high-rises to block the view from any side of the building), spectacular finishes and easy access to the shops, restaurants and the movie theater at Atlantic Station. The Atlantic was built as a luxury condominium and converted to apartments, which may explain its high-end finishes.

The 77 12th Street complex in Midtown opened in 2013, and the 23-story tower was built as luxury apartments with an emphasis on green construction technology. The building features a poolside sports bar with HD televisions and offers panoramic views of the city from a top floor club level that houses the fitness center, media lounge and cyber cafe.

Another building that was designed as condos and converted to luxury apartment living is Morningside's M Apartments.  The 110-unit mid-rise features spacious units, spectacular amenities and a quiet neighborhood that's close to both Morningside and Emory restaurants and retail.

Mezzo is a twenty-story Buckhead tower located on the stretch of Peachtree between Piedmont Hospital and Peachtree Battle Shopping Center. The condo-turned-apartment building features a wide variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom open-concept floor plans with hardwood floors and Viking ranges in the kitchen.

True luxury apartment living in Atlanta doesn't come cheap. Rents start in the $2,500/month range for these buildings and quickly climb well above $5,000/month for the most luxurious units.
