Style hunters Nancy and Julie take on best friends Vanessa and Arthur, who describe their style as Gaudy Fabulous. Each team is given a $500 budget to find, fix-up and flip items purchased at the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in New Milford, Connecticut. The teams shop for design projects that feature home entertaining, stylish seating and a pop of color. Then both teams head to the workshop to transform their finds. Next stop is New York's Brooklyn Flea, where the teams must try to sell their wares but will buyers agree that gaudy is good? Hosted by Designer/Flea Market shopper and Good Morning America Co-Anchor Lara Spencer.
Proof once again that anything can be transformed into a light fixture. Most people see a birdcage and rusty floor lamp base, but Lara saw an eclectic floor lamp (and conversation piece!).
Refurbished Dining Set With New Fabric and Paint
Before, this dining set was dark and dreary, but Lara noticed the great detail and craftsmanship in the chairs, so she revived them with some paint and new fabric.
Find the Mark
Also look for a maker's mark, a stamp or engraving on the bottom of the piece indicating the manufacturer, country of origin, manufactured date and even how many were created. Maker's marks help determine the value of the piece.
Repurposed Jug Lamp
Just about anything you find at a flea market can instantly become a light fixture. Lara turned this jug into a lamp base and topped it with a shade she created out of old maps of Paris.
Cluster of Candles
We love Lara's ingenious idea to use candlesticks as lamps. When clustered together, these unique light fixtures provide tons of light and add interest to any room.
Industrial Coffee Table
Don't be intimidated by an object's cold, factory-like appearance. Old wood and metal can make for a perfectly cozy addition to your living room or bedroom. Lara attached a light to this coffee table for added functionality.
Shabby Ship to Chic Ship
A captain's desk from a ship becomes a shabby chic writing desk thanks to a paint job and new drawer knobs.
Trunk Side Table, Vintage Table with Light
This old trunk may look worse for the wear, but Lara saw a diamond in the rough. She added a light feature along with an antique coffin handle to make a unique side table with storage.
Industrial Pulley, Boat Propeller and Glass Table
An industrial pulley, boat propeller and piece of glass come together to create a one-of-a-kind coffee table (or side table).
Repurposed Dental Cabinet
An old dental cabinet has plenty of drawers for whatever you might need to store. With a fresh coat of paint, new knobs and a cutting board feature, this piece is ready to be put to use in the kitchen.
