Rustic Buffet Table

An animal trough works perfectly as a buffet table when topped with glass and given legs.

It's All in the Details

How can you tell if your piece is really an antique? Furniture guru Mark DeVito says if it was made before electricity, then it's an antique, and imperfections often mean handmade.

Conversation Piece

Proof once again that anything can be transformed into a light fixture. Most people see a birdcage and rusty floor lamp base, but Lara saw an eclectic floor lamp (and conversation piece!).

Industrial Lights

The industrial rustic trend doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, which is perfectly alright with us. Lara's DIY wire basket pendant lights are easy to recreate and add definite industrial flare.

Country Cabinet

This rustic kitchen cabinet already had great bones, and all it needed was a butcher-block countertop, chicken wire cabinet doors and new paint. The chicken wire and white paint enhances the cabinet's country-chic character.

Nautical Nonsense

Lara painted the outer portion of this frame white and the rope detail on the inner area brown. The contrasting paint adds interest and draws the eye to the nautical print.

Refurbished Dining Set With New Fabric and Paint

Before, this dining set was dark and dreary, but Lara noticed the great detail and craftsmanship in the chairs, so she revived them with some paint and new fabric.

Tea Time to Party Time

This rolling cart used to hold tea and afternoon treats, but Lara repurposed it as a bar cart. Plenty of shelving accommodates glasses and liquor, and the wheels make it easy to move from room to room.

Industrial Pulley, Boat Propeller and Glass Table

An industrial pulley, boat propeller and piece of glass come together to create a one-of-a-kind coffee table (or side table).

Find the Mark

Also look for a maker's mark, a stamp or engraving on the bottom of the piece indicating the manufacturer, country of origin, manufactured date and even how many were created. Maker's marks help determine the value of the piece.
