Season 7, Episode 11

Head-to-Head Flip

Flipping cousins, Brandon and Laurie, go toe-to-toe against engaged DIYers, Kim and Tim. Ready with $500 each and just one hour to shop, the teams make their way down the lanes of Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in New Milford, Connecticut. They need to find three items to transform from our Flip List: Convertible Design, Industrial Chic, and Symmetrical Design. The rivalry continues into the workshop where the teams have just one day to flip their pieces. Sweethearts, Kim and Tim, put in some elbow grease to transform an industrial shelving unit into a bar cart, convert a metal card catalogue into a unique coffee table, and give a wooden bench a stylish upgrade. Cousins Brandon and Laurie put their skills to the test as they upcycle a metal pot rack into an industrial coffee table, convert a vintage wooden toolbox into a bar, and turn old filing cabinets into a pair of multi-functional ottomans.

Hanging Coat Rack

A coat stand takes up valuable floor space in small rooms; instead, utilize wall space with a wooden hanging rack. Lara added a mirror and industrial hooks, making this piece multi-functional.

Go Ahead and Haggle!

Get what you really want by always being charming, bundling your purchase, and buying at the end of the day.

Industrial Lights

The industrial rustic trend doesn't seem to be going away any time soon, which is perfectly alright with us. Lara's DIY wire basket pendant lights are easy to recreate and add definite industrial flare.

Refurbished Dining Set With New Fabric and Paint

Before, this dining set was dark and dreary, but Lara noticed the great detail and craftsmanship in the chairs, so she revived them with some paint and new fabric.

Mid-Century Modern Chairs, Classic, Minimalistic

Mid-century modern furniture like these chairs has a classic, minimalist look. Lara brought them up-to-date twith funky fabric and bright red paint.

Cluster of Candles

We love Lara's ingenious idea to use candlesticks as lamps. When clustered together, these unique light fixtures provide tons of light and add interest to any room.

Window to Wall Coat

Hang coats, purses or reusable bags on this arched window turned into a wall coat tree. Personalize it by painting your house number on the glass, like Lara did here.

Cash is King

To get the best deals at flea markets and yard sales, Lara says get to the sale early, stay late, bring cash, don't be afraid to negotiate price and if you see something you like, take it or someone else will. Most of all, have fun!

Shabby Ship to Chic Ship

A captain's desk from a ship becomes a shabby chic writing desk thanks to a paint job and new drawer knobs.

Conversation Piece

Proof once again that anything can be transformed into a light fixture. Most people see a birdcage and rusty floor lamp base, but Lara saw an eclectic floor lamp (and conversation piece!).
