Season 8, Episode 3

The Battle of the Islanders

Caribbean amigos Gabriel and Marco face off against Long Island artists Karen and Jennifer. The competition heats up as the teams search for treasures at Stormville Airport Antique Show and Flea Market in upstate New York. Each team gets $500 and just one hour to find three projects from our Flip List: Convertible Design, Rewrapped and Ombre Design. Back at the workshop, Gabriel and Marco get the fiesta started as they deconstruct a vanity into a pair of bright nightstands, and Karen and Jennifer transform a dated TV cabinet into a chic bar. The team that makes the most profit at the flea market will take home the $5,000 prize.

Lara uses old suitcases to create storage in a brand new way. While you may not be in the market for new luggage, any old suitcases lying around can be stacked to create a side table with storage.

Repurposed Jug Lamp

Just about anything you find at a flea market can instantly become a light fixture. Lara turned this jug into a lamp base and topped it with a shade she created out of old maps of Paris.

Repurposed Dental Cabinet

An old dental cabinet has plenty of drawers for whatever you might need to store. With a fresh coat of paint, new knobs and a cutting board feature, this piece is ready to be put to use in the kitchen.

Fish Bowl Flip

A little digging paid off for Stephan when he found this antique street lamp, which he transformed into a fish bowl.

Nautical Nonsense

Lara painted the outer portion of this frame white and the rope detail on the inner area brown. The contrasting paint adds interest and draws the eye to the nautical print.

Industrial Pulley, Boat Propeller and Glass Table

An industrial pulley, boat propeller and piece of glass come together to create a one-of-a-kind coffee table (or side table).

Vintage Display

This vintage display case could hold myriad objects: books, dinnerware, baskets, movies, pantry items, toys, etc. Lara updated it with a mirrored interior panel and a fresh coat of paint.

Refurbished Dining Set With New Fabric and Paint

Before, this dining set was dark and dreary, but Lara noticed the great detail and craftsmanship in the chairs, so she revived them with some paint and new fabric.
