Rosemary is one of our favorite herbs for many reasons. It smells heavenly, makes both sweet and savory dishes shine, it's cold hardy and wonderful to craft with.  And a rosemary wreath is a simple way to dress up your mantle or buffet.

Materials

  • fresh rosemary sprigs
  • small wood embroidery hoop frame (inner piece only)
  • paddle wire
  • snips or pruners
  • ribbon

Start by looping a 16-24 inch length of ribbon through the wooden embroidery hoop. Tie a knot at the top.

Cut a few pieces of paddle wire about three inches long. Snip a four-inch piece of rosemary and lay it at the base of the ribbon. Wrap the wire around the stem of the sprig, making sure it goes around the wooden hoop. Overlap the next sprig at the base of the first sprig, being sure to cover the wires of the first. Continue in this manner all the way around the hoop.

When you get back to the top of the wreath, tuck the last stem end under the tip of the first rosemary sprig.
