Homemade Hummus

The Farm Kings' mom, Lisa, shares easy recipes for making fresh farm-to-table favorites such as this hummus, which can also include jalapeños, artichokes and red peppers for variety.

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 (15.5 ounce) cans garbanzo beans
  • 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cloves garlic

Directions

Place ingredients in food processor in this order: garlic, beans, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Blend until smooth.

Lisa says, "This hummus is perfect for people who say they don't like hummus. It's not your typical hummus mixture, but it's delicious. Eat it with tortilla chips or some of our farm favorites: sugar snap peas and kohlrabi."

Cook's Notes: For variety, experiment with different flavors. Lisa's original included 1/2 jalapeño for extra bite. Now, she adds basil, artichokes, roasted red peppers and olives (1/4 cup of each). Simply place those ingredients in the bottom of the food processor along with the garlic.
