Gabe Johnson Bio
Gabe Johnson grew up in a small timber town on the Washington Coast. He headed to college in Seattle just as the bottom fell out of the logging industry that hadsupported his town since the early 1900s. As Gabe’s town struggled, he pursued the expected path towards a degree, a gainful job in finance and eventually a career intechnology. Gabe had a wake up call when his father passed away in 2008, and he ditched the paying job, bought a vintage trailer and lost himself in America.
Gabe spent 18 months collecting T-shirts and stories of small town heroes and iconic family-run businesses. “I soon found a life purpose in preserving the cathedrals of our shared pasts by selling T-shirts and sharing the profits with the small businesses they represent,” explained Gabe.
The lack of community in Gabe’s life inspired him to create his own, and thus was born Horses Cut Shop, an underground social club that became a second home to many like minded souls. In 2010, Gabe combined his professional wanderlust with his personal passion for community, and the rest is what his mom would describe as, “something difficult to explain to the neighbors."
