As a child, Justin found himself fascinated not only with vintage travel trailers, but especially ones manufactured by aircraft companies.

Before: Exterior

The camper was stripped down to the frame for a complete makeover.

The new booth provides plenty of seating and room to kick back. The wall sconces give an amibient glow for dining or task lighting for reading. The dining table is covered in stainless-steel to match to the kitchen.

When the dining table is folded down and cushions spread out, there is plenty of room for a good night's rest.

The walls have been resurfaced with Douglas fir and a new window will provide natural air flow.

Although the interior of this 1946 Curtis Wright camper was gutted, Anna and Justin kept the exterior skin, which was in decent shape.

Flyte Camp's Anna and Justin originally purchased this trailer as a personal project, but interest from a client convinced them to sell it after the restoration.

A vintage ClickClack sofa was reupholstered for the dining area.

The walls, shelves and the fold-down table were all refinished and given a glossy new shine.

Restored, Upgraded Vintage Camper

The dividing wall between the stove and entry counter was removed to open up the space. A new vintage-style stove and Marmoleum floor keep the classic vibe.

Major body work and new compartment doors are all needed.

Pinstriping, quilted stainless steel and high-gloss paint job turned the dilapidated tin can into an adorable home-away-from-home. The screen door and windows were restored instead of replaced.

Clients of Justin and Anna's company, Flyte Camp, wanted to use this trailer as a lakeside retreat for their family.

The result was a beautiful vintage restoration, complete with a collapsible awning and shiny new surface.

The midcentury modern aesthetic is cool, but it is worn and not too functional.

For more dining and living space, the pullout table was replaced with an L-shaped bar. The wall TV can be viewed from the kitchen or living area.

Anna and Justin retained and restored most of the original cabinetry and added an original Panel Ray heater (left).
