Typically labeled a “bull in a china shop,” Mike Whiteside dives head first into every task put in front of him. As co-owner of Black Dog Salvage and co-host of Salvage Dawgs, Mike leads his team to leave no stone unturned, scouring and salvaging everything possible on any given job. Mike always brings his creative rigging skills and determination, which makes nothing seem impossible while he is on the job. Voted most likely to bleed on every salvage, Mike is all about getting the job done in the most efficient, yet safest way possible.
Before starting up a salvage business, Mike was a Navy parachute rigger and professional yacht captain. Nowadays, when not swinging a hammer on the job site, he can be found in the woodshop working on his next project. Mike loves to tackle design challenges and uses his ingenuity to create one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture from salvaged materials. On a rare day off, he can be found with a line in the water or riding his Harley though the Virginia countryside looking for the next salvage conquest.
