Season 1, Episode 5

Fort Mifflin (Philadelphia, PA)

Fort Mifflin, built in the 18th century, played a crucial role in the American Revolution. Elizabeth Pratt, the wife of a soldier, never left this island fortress after death from yellow fever claimed her children and her own life. The loss of her children drove her mad and her maddening scream, coming from the depths of grief, still echoes over this historic fort.
