Meet the Brooks Family From The TV Show Growing Up Gator
Hoho is the loving husband of Debbie, protective father of Britney and Kasey, and the no-nonsense boss of the Brooks Family Alligator Farm, which he runs with his brother, Shane.
Hoho is demanding and expects a lot from the kids because running the gator farm is a 365-days-a-year job, with no time for slacking. With the farm in his blood, he never thought about doing anything else.
Born Wayne Brooks, Hoho's parents used to sing him a song called "Rojo the Red-Headed Rooster" because of his fair skin and red hair. As a child, Wayne couldn't pronounce 'Rojo' so he called himself 'Hoho' instead – and the name stuck.
He played softball for many years and is legally blind in one eye due to an old softball injury. Softball also led him to meet his wife, Debbie, who visited the farm the day after they met. They've been together ever since.
Husband of Kim and father of Chelsea and Brandon, Shane runs the business side of the Brooks Brothers Alligator Farm, which he has been running with his younger brother, Hoho, since 2006.
Shane is an honest, hardworking man of his word. Considered the peacekeeper of the family, Shane doesn't like conflict.
As with most brothers, Hoho and Shane fought as children and received their share of discipline. Now they are business partners and best friends, but that doesn't mean brotherly competitiveness never rears its head.
When he's not at the farm, Shane loves to be on the river fishing, and he would probably become a fishing guide if he didn't have the farm. He loves being a grandpa and playing with his grandson, Jace.
The older Brooks sister, Britney, works at the gator farm alongside her younger sister, Kasey, her cousin, Chelsea, and her parents, Hoho and Debbie.
Britney is an honest, straight-shooter who tells it like it is and doesn't take slack from anyone. She's as tough as any boys and will often outdo them.
As far back as she can remember, she was handling alligator eggs and hatchlings. To Britney, being on the farm is just part of life. She also loves to go hunting with her four dogs – Tipsy, Whiskey, Boot and Honey.
As with the rest of the Brooks gang, family means everything to Britney, and she considers Chelsea and Kasey to be her best friends. She joins the whole family every day for lunch at Grandma's.
Kasey, Britney's younger sister, is an independent, hardworking, dedicated young woman who would do anything for her family. She has a competitive spirit, strives to do well at everything and never wants to let anyone down.
Kasey and her cousin, Chelsea, have birthdays just two days apart, which made for some interesting parties as children. Her dad would bring the baby gators for the kids to take photos with, which was always a hit, and also made her popular at school on career day.
Kasey loves animals – especially her dog, Lucy, and her cow, Baby.
A business major at University of Central Florida, she knows earning a degree will help her to run the business aspects of the family farm and it would make her grandpa proud. "You gotta have that piece of paper," he used to say.
Chelsea, Britney's and Kasey's cousin, considers herself to be on the quiet side, but once she gets to know you, she will talk your ear off.
Chelsea is outgoing and loves to be outdoors playing sports or doing other physical activities. She also enjoys hunting with her dog, Myrtle, freshwater fishing on her jonboat, and taking a run if she needs to clear her head.
When she's not working with her family, Chelsea is hanging out with her family, and she prefers to spend most of her time down by the river or around a fire with the rest of the Brooks clan.
Her cousins Kasey and Britney are truly her best friends and although her older brother, Brandon, picks on her, she wouldn't trade him for the world.
Brandon is the oldest of Shane and Kim Brooks' children, and the protective big brother of Chelsea.
He is down-to-earth and pretty laid-back, but he can get fired up when necessary. He is the outdoorsy, adventurous type, happiest when he's doing anything physical – especially being out on the river on his airboat.
Like the rest of the Brooks crew, Brandon grew up handling gators and there was never any doubt he would wind up working on the alligator farm. Brandon believes in enjoying life, but he knows the value of a strong work ethic, which he learned from his grandfather.
Life really changed for Brandon when he became the father of Jace, now three years old. Brandon loves being a dad and teaching Jace about gators, the farm and fishing.
